Your retirement gap, start to finish.
One set of numbers, three answers: how much wealth a return gap costs you, whether that wealth covers your monthly essentials, and whether it survives a bad market. Change any number and all three update together.
A 0–100 score built from four parts: savings versus what your income gap needs (45 pts), your return versus the benchmark (20), years until retirement (15), and whether your saving pace is enough (20). 80+ is Retirement Ready, 60–79 On Track, 40–59 Off Track, under 40 At Risk.
Vanguard estimates a financial advisor can add up to, or even exceed, about 3% in net returns a year through behavioral coaching, tax efficiency and disciplined rebalancing. "A small adjustment in strategy today can change the trajectory of your wealth. I'd be glad to walk through these numbers with you."
If you have a retirement shortfall, I'll show you the gap you didn't know you had, and then provide you with a clear plan to close it.
Let's close the gap on purpose
How realistic is this projection?
This calculator uses compound returns to model what your portfolio could become and how it holds up in retirement. Here's what's included and what isn't.
What this projection assumes
- Growth years compound once a year at the returns you enter; contributions are added at year end.
- You stay invested through every downturn and rebalance to your target each year.
- Portfolio income uses the withdrawal rule you pick, from 3% to 8% (4% by default). Rates above 4% to 5% assume an income strategy such as covered calls; that income is not guaranteed.
- Expenses, Social Security and pensions rise with the one inflation rate you set, both before and during retirement. Lifetime income from the income lab is level and does not rise.
- Retirement years use 5.5% average returns with 11% yearly volatility across 320 market paths, seeded so the same numbers always give the same result.
- "Lasts to 95" means the balance is still above zero at 95. Worst 1-in-10 is a percentile across all paths, not the single worst path.
- Taxes, fees, trading costs and required minimum distributions are excluded.
What this projection probably understates
- Sequence-of-returns risk: bad markets early in retirement compound losses in a way averages hide. Sections 2 and 3 show it directly.
- The behavioral cost of selling at the wrong time: Vanguard's Advisor's Alpha framework (2025) values behavioral coaching at roughly 1.5% to 2% a year, and Morningstar's 2025 "Mind the Gap" study found the average investor trailed their own funds by about 1.2% a year over the decade ended 2024.
- Missed rebalancing: Vanguard estimates disciplined rebalancing adds about 0.14% a year.
- Tax inefficiency: Vanguard estimates asset location adds up to about 0.75% a year.
In other words, this shows what's possible if everything goes right. Real-world unadvised results usually come in below it, not above.
What this is
- An educational estimate built only from the figures you entered.
- A starting point for a conversation about your situation.
- Yours to keep: copy or email the report to save or share.
- Private: your figures are never sold, rented or shared.
What this isn't
- Not a recommendation to buy, sell or change anything.
- Not a quote: no product, price or insurance company has been selected.
- Not a financial plan, and not tax or legal advice.
- Not a guarantee: lifetime income depends on the rate available when you actually buy.
- Not a prediction: simulations show a range of possibilities, not what will happen.
Illustrative and educational only, not financial, tax or investment advice, and not an offer of any product. Hypothetical returns do not reflect any specific investment. The "market falls" buttons replace the first retirement year's return with the chosen drop in every scenario; the order trap lines share an identical average return and differ only in sequence. Lifetime-income figures use illustrative single-life, income-for-life-only payout rates with no death benefit and no cost-of-living increase; actual rates vary by carrier, product, age and interest rates at purchase. The tool illustrates converting at most 60% of a retirement balance. Guarantees are subject to the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurer.

Is this really 100% free?
Yes. There is no cost, no purchase, and no catch. Print as many cards as your family needs.
Why is Guardian Legacy Advisors offering this for free?
It's a community service. Being prepared for the moments that matter is part of what we help families do, and this is one simple way to help.
How does the printing work?
Fill in the form, choose a style, and select “Print my cards.” Each card prints with its front and back side by side. Cut along the outer edge, fold on the dashed line, and tape or laminate it. Card stock makes it more durable.
How are the kid cards different?
The outside shows only a first name and last initial plus allergies. Parent contacts, school, and medical details are on the inside, so they are only seen when an adult opens the card.
How many cards can I print?
As many as you like. Choose the number of copies for each person, and print again any time.
Can I share these with friends and family?
Please do. Share the link to this page so they can make their own cards.
What if my information changes?
Come back and make a new card. It takes a few minutes and is always free.
Is my information safe?
Everything you type stays in your own browser. It is not sent to us or anyone else, and it is not saved. When you close the page, it's gone.
Will I be contacted by anyone?
No. Because nothing you enter is sent anywhere, we don't receive your details. If you'd like to talk with Anthony, you can book a call yourself.
You protected your family. Now help protect your community.
Sharing costs nothing and could matter enormously to someone on their worst day. You're only ever sharing a link — never your own card or anyone's information.
